VIDEO ABOUT THE TOPIC

The Atelier will explore the threshold between wilderness and civilizationnature and culturematter and meaningreality and imagination.
The Atelier will work on the relationship between three fundamental ideas that we will also use as working tools that will guide the design process for the development of a planetary architecture:
– the Double
– the Analogy
– the Assemblage
The Atelier goals are designing the archeology of a landscape of ruins for the future through the transformation of the viaduct of the Turin-Brescia motorway and the comparison with the viaducts to be sought in the city where each student participant lives. A catalog of simple elements from planetary infrastructures should be assembled to build analogical landscapes between the ancient Farnese walls and the Po river.
The final result should be a 16-bit video game with six levels corresponding to six bands of about 550 meters orthogonal to the highway viaduct. Students will build a catalogue of elementary pieces from planetary infrastructures and similar landscapes that can be recomposed in future scenarios to overcome the difficulties of the game and proceed to the final goal with the highest score.

Presentation of the topic by the Atelier Leader, Marco Navarra

PRESS START

EXERCISE 1 | PIACENZA
virtual or real site visit for each participant along the viaduct line with a focus on their own 550 meters area
EXERCISE 2 | THE CITY WHERE YOU COME FROM
virtual or real site visit of each participant along a viaduct line with a focus on a 550 meters area they choose
EXERCISE 3 | SECTION + ABACUS
drawing of sections of both cities and archive of the most important elements in 3 modes: photo, drawing in lines, drawing in pixel.
EXERCISE 4 | PLOT
Writing of a storytelling of the project (around 2.000 characters), a plot in which a leading actor is working (using all the elements you need from the abacus) on the design strategy you imagine for each team sections.
